New Release of Project Administrator project management software

We have just released version 7 of our Project Administrator project management software. The main changes are:

  • Improved navigation with most screens being changed to make moving between records easier
  • Ability to link any action item to a meeting item
  • Enhanced PDF functionality for emailed reports
  • Minor changes to the 64 bit functionality to remove a few bugs we discovered recently

Project Administrator for Office 2010

Pin a document to the Quick Launch Taskbar

I came across this little technique which applies to the Windows Taskbar.  If you try and put a Word Document or an Access Database in the quick launch taskbar, you end up with a link to open Microsoft Word, or Microsoft Access.  If you used another icon, for example the icon for a particular Access program, it is replaced by the standard Microsoft application icon.  There is a way around this.  We discovered it for our Project Administrator project management software which has a particular icon.

  • Create a desktop icon for the document/spreadsheet/presentation/database you want to open.
  • Change the properties to include the icon you want to use.
  • Change the properties to make the path two parts.  The first is to the program opening the document/spreadsheet/presentation/database and the second part the actual document/spreadsheet/presentation/database.  Here is an example for a Microsoft Word Document.  Assume we have an Agenda document we want to pin to the taskbar.

“C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE” “C:\My Documents\Meetings\Agenda.docx”

  • Drag the shortcut to the quick launch taskbar and you have finished.
