Best Web Hosting Company in the Universe

I have had a few web hosts over the years. As a webmaster and web owner, I want the following from a site.

  • Competitive rates
  • Flexibility.  Not bring down your site if you exceed your traffic one month.
  • Most importantly SUPPORT

For the last few years I have been using Ezihosting Their level of support constantly amazes me.  I have fired off questions at all times of the day and night and received an instant response.  Not only that, they keep at it until the problem is fixed.

I am just transferring a new site for a colleague and have had a few teething problems.  Nothing is too much trouble.  Any web hosting problem has been quickly addressed.  Some questions I have asked have not been within my expectations of the scope of their job.  Here is an example.

I bought a link management script.  After a week it was still not working.  The company who supplied the script took about four days to respond to a support request but after that had been responsive in suggesting solutions.  We were getting to the head scratching stage and looking at obscure reasons.  Going back to basics, I thought I would check the version and location of Perl.  I sent an email explaining the situation and asking if they could confirm the version and location which was stored in a config file.  All I expected the answer to be a confirmation of the details I had put in the email.

This is the part that blew me away.  They came back about half an hour later to say they had read the installation instructions, been through the program, checked configuration, played with some permissions to see if they could get it to work and had succeeded in submitting a link.  Incidentally the version and location of Perl were correct.

If I install software on my site, it is my problem if it does not work.  I do not expect the web hosting company to sort it out for me.  They had taken it upon themselves to provide support way above my expectations.  This is not the first time.  Over the years, they have resolved issues way outside what I consider their responsibility.

How would I mark them out of 10.  For speed of addressing problems – about 12.  For initiative – about 15.  They are off the scale.  If anyone is looking for a web hosting company, and you want a personal recommendation, talk to me.  I am happy to tell you about the best web host in the universe.
