Benefit Tracking

Benefit Delivery and Benefit Realization

10 Minute Tour - Next
Screen 4 of 23 Project Schedule

Benefit tracking consists of project benefit identification prior to the commencement and benefit delivery after the project is completed. If there are not sufficient project benefits, why is the project being undertaken? If there is a commitment to reduce costs when a project is completed, it should be followed up. Someone should check to see if the benefit realization was delivered after the project is completed. Project benefits are too often ignored when the project is finally concluded.

Benefit Tracking and Benefit Realization

Benefits

  • All benefits can be viewed in one place
  • Easy to see information about project benefits because it is in a single consistent format
  • Benefits are more likely to be realistic if they are recorded and a follow up action put in place. Benefit tracking forces people to show some realism in identifying benefits
  • By regularly monitoring benefits, you are more likely to see changes as the project unfolds. This may result in the project being expanded or contracted, or even terminated

Benefit Reports Available:

  • Details for a single benefit
  • All benefits for a project
